June 25th, spokesperson Guo Jiaqun of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a regular press conference.
A reporter asked that, according to reports, the head of Taiwan's foreign affairs department recently stated that the Taiwan authorities are conducting dialogue and consultations with political figures and social groups in Honduras regarding the so-called "Taiwan-Honduras diplomatic exchange." Recently, Honduras's Foreign Ministry made a statement on social media, clarifying that Honduras has not maintained any official dialogue or contact with the Taiwan authorities regarding this issue. Honduras's foreign affairs department will implement its national foreign policy in accordance with current diplomatic commitments. What is China's comment on this?
Guo Jiaqun said that China has noted the clarification by the Honduran government regarding the lies of the Taiwanese authorities. This once again demonstrates that adhering to the one-China principle is in accordance with international justice, the will of the people, and the trend of history. The 'Taiwan independence' forces and the Democratic Progressive Party's authorities are acting against the trend and are unpopular, destined to fail.
Guo Jiaqun pointed out that since China established diplomatic relations with Honduras, bilateral relations have developed rapidly on the basis of the one-China principle. Practical cooperation in various fields has contributed to Honduras’ economic and social development. Facts have fully proven that establishing diplomatic relations between China and Honduras serves the fundamental and long-term interests of both countries and their peoples. China is willing to promote the continuous development of China-Honduras relations on the basis of the one-China principle.
