Russia Launches Large-Scale Air Strike on Ukraine

According to the Kiev Independent newspaper, in the early hours of June 2 local time, Russia launched a large-scale air strike against Ukraine. Missiles and drones were used to attack Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, as well as several other cities across the country.

At around 1:30 a.m. local time, an explosion was heard in Kyiv, and air defense sirens were activated immediately. At 1:15 a.m., several more violent explosions occurred, followed by a brief power outage in the area.

Kiev Mayor Klichko said that there were several explosions in the city, and that the Ukrainian militarys air defense system has been deployed to intercept the attacks. The head of the Kiev Military Administration, Tkatchenko, said that Russian troops are using ballistic missiles to attack Kiev.

Tkachenko reported that after the attack in Kherson-Podolsk District, several vehicles caught fire. At another building, missile debris fell from the roof, causing fires and shattering numerous windows. Near a kindergarten in Oboln District, debris from a drone fell, and a building under construction also caught fire.

On May 29 local time, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy issued a warning, stating that according to intelligence shared by American and European allies, Russia is expected to launch large-scale attacks within the next 48 hours.

June 1st, Zelenskyy once again stated: Intelligence indicates that Russias attack plans are still underway. Russian troops have completed their preparations for the attack, and a large-scale air strike could occur at any time. Our national air defense forces are ready to respond 24/7, using their existing equipment.
