According to CNN on June 18th, a White House spokesman stated that due to the unresolved arrangements related to the next phase of negotiations, Vice President Visceris canceled his trip to Switzerland scheduled for the 19th to attend the signing ceremony of the US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding.
The spokesperson said in the statement: "As the vice president stated at the press conference, the arrangements for the upcoming technical negotiations are not yet finalized. The American delegation is ready and will depart as soon as there is an appropriate opportunity. However, the preparations for this round of negotiations are always complex and full of uncertainties."
The spokesman added, “For now, the vice president will not leave this evening. Once there is more information about the subsequent arrangements, we will inform the public immediately. The American side expects to commence technical negotiations as soon as possible.”
Earlier on the 18th, Vance said he planned to go to Switzerland to sign the agreement in person, but he also acknowledged that there is still uncertainty regarding the timing of his trip.
Wanx also said that the technical negotiations to finalize this agreement are expected to begin this weekend. He “definitely intends” to lead his team as American negotiators.
