Russia Issues Travel Warning for Iran Amidst Tensions

On November 5 local time, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zakhareva stated during a briefing that given the potential for tensions around Iran to escalate again, it is recommended that Russian citizens refrain from traveling to Iran for the time being.

She also asked Russian citizens to be vigilant and avoid areas where there is a lot of people, as well as military and government facilities.

Zaharrova said: ‘In the event of a potential escalation in the situation around Iran, the advice for Russian citizens remains unchanged. We continue to recommend that, until the situation stabilizes, people should refrain from traveling to that country.’

She also said, “For our compatriots who are already in Iran, please stay vigilant and avoid crowded areas, places where large events take place, and areas near military and government facilities.”

Zaharova emphasized that Russia is 'closely monitoring the situation and calling on people in Iran to do the same'.

She added, “It is necessary to rely on official information released by Tehran. Of course, all instructions given by Iranian authorities must be strictly followed. It is absolutely not recommended to take photographs and videos of key infrastructure, transportation facilities, energy facilities, especially military facilities.”
