Democrats Secure Control of Senate in Midterm Elections

According to predictions by American media and election analysts, as of early November 4th local time, the Democratic Party has secured control of several key states in the Senate elections, including traditional ‘red states’ such as North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas.

Statistics show that currently, the Democratic Party has won at least 52 seats, taking control of the Senate.

After the Democrats won a majority of seats in the Senate, Sen. Chuck Schumer told reporters, “Americans voted for change.” The makeup of the Senate has undergone a “generational reshaping.” He also said, “I want to say five words to the American people—relief will come.”

On the 3rd local time, voting began for the US midterm elections.

The United States Senate has 100 senators, with a term of six years. About one-third of the seats are elected every two years. This year, there will be elections for 35 seats. Currently, the Republicans have 53 seats and the Democrats have 47 seats. Therefore, the Democrats also need to gain four additional seats to take control of the Senate.
