Melania Trump Facilitates Ceasefire Between Russia and Ukraine

On November 3 local time, the White House announced that First Lady Melania will convene a meeting with representatives from Russia and Ukraine at the White House on November 5.

The White House stated in its statement that Melania had independently initiated contact between Russia and Ukraine, and successfully facilitated a ceasefire between the two warring nations in the areas around Orelshy and Kherson. The White House described this as an “unprecedented diplomatic effort” carried out by the First Lady of the United States.

According to the schedule, Melania will give a speech at the White House on November 5 at 11 a.m. Eastern Time regarding the ceasefire in Olechki.

The White House has not yet announced the list of Russian and Ukrainian representatives participating in the meeting, nor the specific agenda.

Previously, on October 23, the White House announced that through the mediation of Melania, Russia and Ukraine had agreed to temporarily cease military operations in the Orelshy area, in order to transport humanitarian aid to the area and evacuate civilians through secure routes.

Orechki is located on the east bank of the Dnieper River and is currently under Russian control. Due to the ongoing war, a large number of local residents have been displaced, and the remaining residents are mainly elderly people.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy recently thanked Melania for coordinating humanitarian operations in Oreshki, and hoped she would help Ukraine achieve other localized ceasefires.

Russian President's Press Secretary Peskov said on the 2nd that the humanitarian operations in Oreshki have been successfully completed. Russia expresses gratitude for the assistance provided by the United States, especially to First Lady Melania Trump of the United States.
