On November 4th, Russian President's Press Secretary Peskov stated that Russia sincerely hopes that U.S. President Trump will continue to work towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine after the mid-term elections in Congress.
Peskov said in an interview with reporters from Russian Life News website: "President Trump will continue to carry out his presidential duties. We sincerely hope that he will also continue to make efforts for peace."
Peskov pointed out that certain achievements have been made in the negotiations among Russia, the United States, and Ukraine. A new round of negotiations will soon take place. He also praised the work done by the first lady of the United States, Melania Trump, in the humanitarian field, and expressed the hope of the Russian side that these efforts will continue.
When asked if the US Congress could obstruct Trump from continuing to advance peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, Peskov replied: “This is an American internal matter.”
