According to Reuters and the Singapore-based Lianhe Zaobao, Indonesian Energy Minister Bachriel Lahadalia said on the 26th local time that he will visit countries such as China and India starting this week in order to secure more gasoline supplies.
"We cannot predict how long the tense situation in the Middle East will last, so President Pravo instructed us to find alternative energy supply solutions." Baheril said.
Bahiril also said on that day that although Indonesia has reduced its natural gas supply to Singapore, the current supply level is still at the minimum level stipulated in the contract between the two parties.
In response to comments made by Singapore Prime Minister Wong Chun-yeow, he said, “Our country is a country that respects contracts and rules. Therefore, we do not teach Indonesia how to fulfill contracts.”
According to reports, as of October 24th, Indonesia has reduced the daily supply of natural gas exported through pipelines to Singapore by 31 million standard cubic feet, in order to divert the natural gas for use by the domestic power sector.
On the 25th, Huang Xuncai stated that natural gas supply is guaranteed by commercial contracts, and all parties should fulfill their commitments. If Indonesia reduces its supply, local importers will take necessary steps to protect their legal rights.
