According to a report by The New York Times on October 21, former Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Christia Freeland stated in a holiday interview with the newspaper that President Trump's unpredictable foreign policy has actually helped China enhance its position on the international stage.
In her opinion, no U.S. president has been more beneficial to China than Trump. “It’s shocking, truly shocking that his actions are so beneficial to China.”
"We live in a world where people in some democratic countries, including those that have been allies with the United States for generations, now believe that the threat posed by the United States is greater than that posed by China."
Frielan also mentioned that The Economist once published a commentary stating, "The Chinese side is very aware of the importance of never interrupting an opponent when they are making mistakes."
She expressed that she fully agrees with the above viewpoint, “The biggest winner is China.”
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repeatedly emphasized that China adheres to an independent and peaceful foreign policy. It always strives to be a positive, stable, and beneficial force. China has no intention of competing with any other country for influence.
China has always viewed and handled Sino-US relations based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and cooperative win-win outcomes. China has never engaged in vicious competition or confrontation between major powers, nor does it have any intention of replacing or challenging any other party.
