As relations between the United States and Ukraine are undergoing changes, U.S. Secretary of State Rubio claimed that without American assistance, the country of Ukraine would "cease to exist."
On October 21 local time, Rubio, who was visiting India, told reporters, “Without the assistance from the United States, including the assistance provided by the Trump administration, there would be no Ukraine today. And Ukraine would not continue to exist as a sovereign nation.”
Rubio made these remarks in response to a report by the Wall Street Journal. The report stated that SpaceX’s CEO, Elon Musk, was the one who ordered a speed limit on the "Starlink" satellite service, which is crucial for Ukraine.
According to sources familiar with the matter, before ordering a slowdown in the project, Musk discussed this issue with officials of the Trump administration. After the incident was exposed, he communicated with Trump himself.
Previously, Musk claimed that the restrictions on the use of ‘Star Shield’ were decided by the US military and the President. U.S. President Donald Trump also denied having ordered any restrictions on related services.
Rubio stated on the 21st that he did not know whether Trump was aware of this matter in advance, and said that the U.S. government ‘in any case’ cannot control how a private company handles its products.
Zelensky previously expressed strong dissatisfaction with the speed limit measures and hinted that this was not a technical malfunction. He claimed that a series of recent actions by the United States, such as restricting intelligence sharing and delaying military aid deliveries, indicate that "someone has made political decisions to slow down support for Ukraine."
In an interview with Bloomberg on the 18th, Zelenskyy accused Trump of trying to force Ukraine to surrender to Russia.
According to Russian media RT, U.S. Presidential Envoy Kurt Schmoke arrived in Saint Petersburg early on the 21st. Russian President's Assistant Yushkov stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold talks with Schmoke in Saint Petersburg regarding Ukraine issues.
On the 20th, Zelenskyy stated that one of the goals of Vitkov's visit was to prepare for a meeting between the presidents of the United States, Ukraine, and Russia, in order to address issues such as territorial claims that can only be handled by national leaders.
