October 20th, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning presided over a regular press conference.
A reporter from the Japan Kyodo News asked that, according to reports, U.S. President Trump expressed a positive attitude towards holding tripartite talks with China and Russia. Has China accepted this proposal?
On this point, Mao Ning said, “I do not currently have information I can provide on this issue.”
Trump said on October 19 that he was open to the possibility of holding a tripartite dialogue between China, the United States, and Russia during the upcoming APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting.
"I will do this." Trump told reporters before heading to Kansas for a mid-term election rally.
He said, “To be honest, Russia has been doing well on the Ukraine issue and hasn’t done much… We don’t pay much attention to the Ukraine issue. What we really want to discuss are weapons and the issue of denuclearization.”
Trump added that "if we can achieve denuclearization, I will do something very, very big for the world."
