A recent poll in the Philippines shows that Vice President Sara Duterte's approval and trust ratings still significantly outstrip those of President Marcos. Over half of the respondents approve of Sara's performance, while only 30% are satisfied with Marcos.
According to reports by the Philippine GMA News Network on October 15, a poll conducted by Pulse Asia in September showed that 54% of Filipino adults approve of Sarah’s governance performance, and 55% trust her. In contrast, only 30% of respondents trusted Marcos’ governance, with 29% expressing disapproval. Meanwhile, 49% of respondents were dissatisfied with Marcos’ governance performance, and 48% expressed distrust in him.
Regional differences are also significant. Marcos’s trust rates in Cameroo and Visaya were 66% and 60%, respectively. In contrast, Sarah’s trust rate in Cameroo was as high as 94%, and her approval rate for governance reached 91%.
However, compared to the July survey, Sarah’s approval rating has dropped by 2 percentage points, and her trust rating has decreased by 3 percentage points. On the other hand, Marcos’s two indicators have increased by 1 percentage point each. The poll organizations stated that neither of the two candidates’ national support ratings showed statistically significant changes.
Another polling agency, the Social Weather Station (SWS), also reported on the same day that Sarah remains the person with the highest net satisfaction rate among the four senior officials from the country surveyed.
The survey shows that 51% of respondents are satisfied with Sarah’s work performance, while 30% are dissatisfied. The net satisfaction rate is +21 percentage points. However, this figure has decreased by 10 percentage points compared to June.
The Asia Pulse Survey was conducted from September 17 to 24, involving 2,400 adults; the SWS survey was conducted from September 21 to 27, involving 1,500 adults. Both surveys used face-to-face interviews.
