According to a report on the WeChat public account "Chinese Embassy in the Philippines" dated October 16, on October 15, Ambassador Jing Quan attended the second Dili Man Dialogue and gave a joint interview with Filipino media. When asked about his view on the remarks by Philippine Defense Secretary Teodoro, who referred to China as a "troublemaker" in the region, Ambassador Jing responded as follows:
This is a pure baseless conjecture. Who exactly is responsible for creating trouble? Look at who is targeting innocent Chinese language teachers? Who are leading the army to arrest innocent Chinese workers? And who is constantly slandering and attacking China every day?
These accusations against China are baseless and serve only to create false narratives, inciting hatred between the two nations. Who is really responsible for creating new problems and stirring up conflict every day, trying to push both sides towards confrontation? Who is the real source of trouble?
The Philippines should be grateful to have China as a neighbor. If we were to use force, it would be very possible for us to win easily. But we will not use force, because we love peace.
Our region at least enjoys peace. Look at other parts of the world—Ukraine, Gaza, even Venezuela—what’s happening there? We should be grateful that we still have peace.
We hope that countries in our region, especially those in East Asia and Southeast Asia, will work together to cherish peace and pursue common development. China is willing to share its development experience and technologies with neighboring countries. We hope that all countries will see China's development as an opportunity, rather than a threat.
