According to reports by Bloomberg and several other foreign media on October 15th, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy stated in an interview with the Financial Times of the UK that Ukraine will resume attacks on Russian refineries as a response to the attacks launched by Russia.
Zelensky told the Financial Times that in order to comply with the "energy ceasefire" arrangement announced by U.S. President Trump on the 11th, Ukraine had suspended attacks on Russian energy facilities for three days. However, Moscow continued to attack Ukrainian energy infrastructure during this period.
"The restrictions have been lifted (regarding the attack on the oil refinery), and we will no longer comply." Zelensky said.
On October 14th, Russian troops attacked several power plants in Ukraine. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that Russian forces targeted six power plants in the Kiev and Kharkov regions. Zelenskyy later posted a message on social media, accusing these attacks of violating the energy ceasefire announced by Trump.
According to Russian media reports, Ukrainian drones also attacked several Russian refineries. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Novak stated on the 14th that the Kiev regime attacked two refineries in Saratov Oblast and Luhansk Oblast. However, Ukraine denied this claim.
Since Trump announced an agreement with Russia to supply diesel into the international market, the tensions between the leaders of the United States and Ukraine have further escalated. Trump publicly stated last week that it was time for Ukraine to elect a new president who could reach an agreement with Russia, and hinted that Zelensky should consider resigning or replacing him.
