On the 11th local time, the American CBS network broadcast an interview with Trump’s former White House chief strategist Paul Manafort. In the interview, Manafort compared Trump to Washington and Lincoln, and described himself as a “questionless right-wing figure”.
Bannon has long been one of Trump's most famous political allies, and his influence once overshadowed that of Trump.
When asked whether America is moving towards fascism, Bannon replied, “This is not fascism at all. In fact, it is more inclusive and entrepreneurial. It is definitely not fascism. Remember, looking back in history, we have always won elections.”
Bannon has repeatedly advocated for Trump to seek a third term in office. He admitted that Trump seems “not interested” in this, and this move is also subject to the provisions of the United States Constitution amendments. Bannon said, “Will this idea be questioned? Yes, because everything about Trump will be questioned in court.”
Bannon also insisted that Trump's loss in the 2020 presidential elections was "not real".
As the mid-term elections approach this year, Bannon was asked how he would bet on the outcome. He said, “I’d push all my chips to the middle of the table and say, ‘Guys, there’s no way back, victory is irreplaceable. Let’s fight desperately.’”
Bannon admitted that the Republican Party cannot afford to lose in these mid-term elections, “I think there is no doubt about this.”
Bannon said that if the Democrats win the midterm elections this year, the “MAGA era” will be in jeopardy. “You will see Pete Heggseth being impeached, with subpoenas flying around every day. They will try to destroy President Trump, and we will be trapped for two years.”
