Saudi Arabia Airport Attack Kills Hundreds; Schools Shut for Online Learning

On October 10th, local time, King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, was targeted for the third time this week, resulting in hundreds of casualties. According to AFP, all schools in Riyadh sent notices to parents on November 11th, announcing that they would switch to online teaching for the next week. The schools stated in their emails that this decision was made in accordance with the latest instructions from the Saudi Ministry of Education.

This is the second time in less than a month that Saudi Arabia has requested schools in Riyadh to close their campuses temporarily. On September 27th, the Saudi government also ordered all schools in Riyadh to close for a week and switch to online teaching.

The Saudi Civil Aviation Department issued a statement in the early hours of the 11th, stating that the attack at Riyadh Airport resulted in at least 12 deaths and over 300 injuries.

Currently, no one has directly acknowledged responsibility for this incident. However, the Houthi militia in Yemen is continuing to escalate missile attacks against Saudi Arabia, and they have declared responsibility for two attacks that occurred earlier this week.

After the attack, a Houla militant spokesman posted a message before the attack, stating, “A reminder.” The post read: Only humanitarian flights that have been approved in advance are allowed to land at Riyadh Airport.
