According to a report by Reuters on October 11, a spokesman for the Polish Interior Ministry said that Polish police have received intelligence indicating that Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defense Minister Władysław Kościań-Kamiš could be targets of attacks. Polish security authorities have held a special meeting regarding this matter.
According to the spokesperson, after receiving relevant information, Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kiereński and the Coordinator of Intelligence Services Minister Tomasz Siemionek have ordered actions to be taken. The spokesperson did not specify the nature and source of the threat.
Polish media reported that Polish police received an email containing information about threats.
Reuters pointed out that due to the polarized political situation in Poland, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has intensified security threats, and the domestic situation in Poland is becoming increasingly tense. In August this year, Polish police arrested a man who was accused of 'inciting the assassination of important political figures'.
The Polish Ministry of Interior announced this news at a time when the country was in a state of high alert. Over the past week, three campus attacks occurred within four days in Mazovia province in central Poland, resulting in one death and multiple injuries, including children.
To prevent further campus attacks, by the morning of November, Polish police had inspected 64,000 schools across the country and detained 117 individuals suspected of carrying knives or other dangerous weapons, or threatening to attack schools and other students. Polish Prime Minister Tusk has requested that police conduct at least one inspection of each school daily in order to prevent attacks.
