Macrons French Approval Drops to Record Low Amidst Economic Concerns

According to a latest poll conducted by the French newspaper Le Monde, French President Emmanuel Macron's support rate has dropped to the lowest level since he took office in 2017. Only 15% of respondents expressed positive opinions of him.

A survey conducted by Ipsos BVA-Cesi shows that Macron's popularity has dropped by 1 percentage point compared to last month, hitting a new low during his presidency.

As the poll results are released, France is facing record-high fuel prices, and protests by high school students continue. The survey shows that the issue of purchasing power is the most concerning topic for French citizens. Additionally, the future of the social welfare system and France's debt levels also trigger widespread concerns.

Mark Long's second presidential term will end in 2027. He previously stated that after completing a ten-year presidential term and leaving the Élysée Palace, he would "no longer be involved in politics."

Among the politicians considered potential successors to Macron, Jordan Bardel, the president of the far-right French party National Union, and Marina Le Pen, the former president of the same party, still rank among the top. Their support rates are 33% and 32%, respectively.

However, both candidates' support rates have decreased compared to a month ago. Bálderra's rating has dropped by 3 percentage points, while Le Pen's has dropped by 4 percentage points. Previously, a report alleged that Bálderra used an old Facebook account to post anti-Semitic comments when she was younger.

This poll was conducted online from October 7th to 8th. A total of 1,000 adults were surveyed, with a margin of error ranging from 0.6 to 3.1 percentage points.
