Trump and Putin Discuss Iran Proposal During Phone Call

On October 9th, local time, U.S. President Donald Trump spoke on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In addition to the Ukraine issue, which is closely related to both countries, the two leaders also discussed the Iran issue. According to Russia's TASS news agency, Russian President Vladimir Putin conveyed to Trump during the conversation the Iranian proposal for resolving the conflict.

Peskov said that during his visit to Turkmenistan to attend the Council of Heads of State of the CIS and the Caspian Ecological Summit, Putin met with Iran's President Hassan Rouhani. Putin informed Rouhani that he would be speaking with Trump by phone. After consultations with Rouhani, Putin conveyed Iran's proposals to Trump during the call on the 9th.

Peskov did not disclose the specific details of Iran's plan.

Additionally, Peskov stated that the first phone call between the Russian and American leaders was primarily focused on Ukraine. Putin expressed "comprehension" of some of the US proposals aimed at easing the Russo-Ukrainian conflict.

Trump posted on social media on the 8th, stating that the United States is engaged in "fruitful discussions" with Iran. Before the mid-term elections in November 3rd, the United States will not launch any attacks against Iran. However, he emphasized that the United States will continue to impose sanctions on Iranian ports.
