Since Trump won the 2024 U.S. presidential election and began his second presidential term, his competitor, former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, has gradually faded from public view. However, recently, Harris seems to have shown signs of making a comeback.
According to an article in the US Wall Street Journal on October 9th, Harris has not yet decided whether to run for president again in 2028. However, she has taken a series of measures closely related to her candidacy recently, including starting contact with donors, recruiting staff members, and supporting Democrats in their mid-term elections. Nevertheless, many of the Democratic Party's 'funding sources' believe that Harris has a low chance of success.
Sources close to the matter reveal that Harris has been showing many unusual movements recently. In California, she attended six private fundraising events for the midterm elections. One of these events was to support Wisconsin Democratic State Senatorial candidate David Crowley, and another was to raise funds for Nevada Democratic candidate Aaron Ford.
Last week, Harris attended a campaign phone conference for the Democratic National Committee. She called on over 2,000 volunteers to go door-to-door to mobilize voters, in order to help the Democrats gain seats in several states across the United States. Harris told these volunteers, "Working hard is valuable work."
Before the midterm elections in November in the United States, it is expected that Harris will also carry out several activities. These include participating in Ford's campaign in Nevada, supporting Democratic U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff's re-election in Georgia, and delivering a speech at the Dalton County Democratic Annual Fundraiser in Atlanta.

The Wall Street Journal noted that Harris maintains close contact with a team of political advisors, and recently expanded her team by hiring Eduardo Negron as the communications director. Over the past year, Harris has been a client of Democratic strategist Brian Fallon, who participated in Harris’ campaign in 2024.
Reports suggest that there are signs indicating that Harris may already be preparing for the 2028 U.S. presidential elections, and could possibly run again. Many Democrats typically announce their candidacy for the next presidential election after the midterm elections.
Although Harris has received support from some key Democratic voters, especially black women, many Democrats do not see her as a viable candidate for re-election. Many Democrats believe that after the failures in 2024, the Democratic Party needs to introduce a new candidate in the 2028 presidential election.
The Wall Street Journal reported that some of the Democrats with significant financial resources are uneasy about Harris's recent actions. They have directly told Harris that if she were to run again, her chances of success would be very low.
Harris's husband, Doug Emhoff, is also worried about this situation. People familiar with the matter said that Emhoff privately told some people that he would prefer if Harris did not run again. However, those who know Emhoff believe that if Harris really decides to run, Emhoff will still support her.
In the 2024 U.S. presidential elections, due to then-President Biden withdrawing from the race, Harris was nominated as the Democratic presidential candidate without going through primaries. After Trump defeated Harris by a significant margin, the Democratic Party was embroiled in months of mutual criticism and reflection.
Analysts generally believe that the situation where the entire Democratic Party is united around Harris will not happen again in 2024. If she decides to run for the 2028 U.S. elections, she will face fierce internal party competition.
Harris's spokesperson did not comment on the relevant news. Previously, Harris openly stated that she is still focused on the mid-term elections in November. Last month, Harris said during an event in Michigan, “I haven’t decided whether to run again. I truly believe that if we don’t win in 2026, then 2028 will be meaningless.”
Harris has run for the presidency twice. In 2020, she attempted to obtain the Democratic Party's nomination as presidential candidate but failed. In 2024, as Vice President, Harris campaigned alongside Biden for the presidential election, but ultimately lost to Trump.
