The documentary "A Record of Success in Combating Online Fraud in Myanmar's North" jointly produced by the Ministry of Public Security and China Media Group is being broadcast on CCTV's Comprehensive Channel. On October 7, CCTV News App published some content from "Building a Global Network Against Fraud". The documentary reveals that despite multiple rounds of intensive eradication efforts, cross-border online fraud crimes still possess strong mobility and resilience, with overseas criminal groups continuing to operate and rebound.
In July 2024, a cashier at an enterprise in Zhuji, Zhejiang was remotely controlled by a foreign criminal group through a Trojan program. The criminal group impersonated the "Chairman" to commit fraud and stole 17 million yuan. The police identified that the crime syndicate was located in the Fourth Special Region of Shan State in northern Myanmar. After the initial suppression of such fraudulent activities, these groups have resumed their activities.
In the face of the resurgence of the electric fraud forces, our public security organs are actively promoting international law enforcement cooperation and establishing regular joint crackdown mechanisms. We are also continuously working to eliminate these illegal operations involving my country in northern Myanmar.
The then Director of the Telecom and Internet Crime Investigation Department of the Ministry of Public Security, Zhang Jun, stated clearly: "We are not afraid of the resurgence of these crimes. As long as the international law enforcement cooperation mechanism is mature, we will act."

Since 2023, the Chinese police and the Burmese have strengthened their police cooperation. A total of over 59,000 criminal suspects involved in fraud have been captured and transferred. The criminal syndicate led by the "Four Big Families" in Kajang, northern Myanmar, has been completely dismantled. At the beginning of 2025, China, Myanmar, and Thailand established a ministerial coordination mechanism for joint efforts against fraud crimes. They carried out 10 joint repatriation operations. More than 630 buildings in the Myo Wadi District were demolished. As of February 2026, all legal proceedings related to the two major criminal syndicates have been completed, and 16 people have been sentenced to immediate execution by the court.
