Ukraine Launches Massive Drone Attack on Moscow

Recently, Ukraine has increased the use of drones to attack Russian rear areas, attempting to exert pressure on the Russian economy. According to the Russian newspaper "Businessman," on October 5th local time, Sergei Sobyanin, the mayor of Moscow, announced on social media that over the past month or more, nearly 10,000 Ukrainian drones have been flown towards Moscow.

Sobyanin stated that from September 1st morning to October 5th morning, a total of 9,994 drones flew towards Moscow. Most of them were intercepted at a distance by Russian air defense forces, and 862 drones were destroyed as they approached Moscow.

As of now, the Ukrainian side has not commented on Sobyanin's statement.

Shortly after Sobyanin made this announcement, Moscow was targeted by large-scale drone attacks from Ukraine. According to the Russian International News Agency, from the evening of the 5th local time to the early morning of the 6th, 650 drones were flown towards Moscow. Most of them were intercepted near the border; 105 were destroyed as they approached Moscow, and 93 were shot down over Moscow.

The attack led to temporary restrictions at four airports in Moscow. Moscow Governor Andre Vorobyov said that this is the largest drone attack encountered by Moscow recently, resulting in 2 deaths and 9 injuries.
