Merz Delivers Over $1.5 Billion in Aid to Ukraine

On October 4th, local time, German Chancellor Merz visited Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Mertz announced on that day that he would provide Ukraine with approximately $1.5 billion in assistance.

He said at the press conference that Germany has promised to provide Ukraine with an additional $1.1 billion in military assistance, including long-range strike weapons, combat drones, and satellite technology.

In addition, Germany will provide approximately 395 million US dollars in energy assistance for the purchase of generators, substation equipment, and maintenance work before the arrival of winter.

Reports indicate that Ukrainian President Zelenskyy stated that the two countries have also signed 15 agreements, with a total value of over $9.6 billion. The agreements mainly involve security cooperation, weapons production and procurement. Additionally, there is an agreement to expand joint counter-aerial drone operations.

Germany is Ukraine's largest donor. Since the conflict began, Germany has provided Kiev with more than $48.8 billion in aid, along with various types of equipment and weapons.
