According to CNN, on October 3rd, U.S. President Trump posted several tweets on social media, criticizing Arkansas Republican Senator Tom Cotton for hindering the permanent daylight saving time bill.
Trump also revealed Kotton's phone number and called on American citizens to call him.
Trump wrote on social media on the 3rd, "My friend Tom Cotton is obstructing an important bill. The bill is called the 'Sunshine Protection Act', also known as the 'Bill That We Don't Want to Adjust the Clock Twice a Year'."
He revealed Cotton’s phone number and called on American citizens to call Cotton and express their thoughts.
According to CNN, when the call was made to that number, Korton’s voicemail was full. After that, the phone rang three times, and an automated voice message indicated that the user could not be reached.
According to reports, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill this summer with a vote of 308 to 117. This bill aims to fix the current daylight saving time setting as the standard throughout the year, eliminating the need for two-time time changes each year. However, the U.S. Senate has not progressed with this bill since then.
Kédùtion always opposed changing the status quo.
No one likes changing the clock, and I don't either," Trump issued his first post shortly after, while Karton expressed himself on a social platform. "The Congress has previously passed multiple bills regarding permanent daylight saving time, but each time that Americans experience the ridiculous change of sunrise being delayed in winter, they all cancel the bill."
Cotton said, "People in Arkansas don't want their children to go to school on a dark morning. I will always put Arkansas first."
Trump then responded to Cotton by saying, "If Cotton puts the interests of Arkansas first, he will give them an extra hour of daylight. More importantly, they won’t have to go from home, farms, workplaces, and all other places twice a year to adjust their clocks. And they often forget to do so."
He urged Kottton, "Give the Republican Party a victory in the Senate."
CNN on the 3rd day asked Trump why he published Cotton's mobile number on social media. He refused to answer and continued to criticize the clock rotation.
Trump said, “People don’t want to keep adjusting the clocks. It was the same last time; six months ago, no one adjusted the clocks, and everyone was late.”
It is reported that this is not the first time Trump has made public the phone number of a sitting senator. In 2015, Trump publicly read out the private phone number of American Republican senator Lindsey Graham, who was running for president, during a crowded rally.
