Palestinian Boy Beaten by Israeli Troops: UN Report Highlights Child Deaths

According to Al Jazeera, a photo has been widely shared online recently. The photo shows a 12-year-old Palestinian boy on the occupied West Bank, avoiding Israeli troops on his way home from school.

Unfortunately, the boy was eventually discovered by military soldiers, and he was beaten by them.

The family said that the boy was greatly frightened, and there was a red palmprint on his face.

A report by the United Nations indicates that from October 7, 2023, to March 31, 2026, Israeli forces have killed over 20,000 Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip, resulting in approximately 44,000 children being injured. The number of dead children accounts for 30% of the total number of deaths.

The investigation committee believes that there is reasonable evidence to suggest that Israeli security forces have been using large-caliber weapons with wide-ranging effects in Gaza, including in densely populated areas. The committee believes that the high number of child deaths is not merely an incidental consequence, and has considered related actions within the context of its legal analysis regarding genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes.

The report also investigated cases of children being arrested and abused, torture during detention, inhumane and humiliating treatment, sexual and gender-based violence against children, the impact on newborns and children due to the destruction of medical facilities, attacks on schools and orphanages, malnutrition, displacement, and disruptions in basic services, as well as long-term psychological trauma suffered by children.
