According to Reuters, British Defense Secretary John Shelley resigned on the 11th local time due to disputes over military spending. He accused Prime Minister Sturme of failing to commit government resources necessary for defense.
Reports indicate that for several months, the UK Ministry of Defence and the Treasury have been negotiating how to meet the growing demand for military spending. As a result, the UK’s Defense Investment Plan has been postponed repeatedly since last year.
Hilli wrote in his letter to Stamer: "As threats become more intense, you have been unable to—and the Treasury has also been unwilling to—commit to investing the resources needed to defend the country."
