Israeli media reported today (September 30) that a commercial airliner flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv suddenly turned around over Saudi Arabia and continuously sent emergency warning signals. According to sources from Israeli security authorities, Israeli Air Force fighters were urgently deployed to take action.
Dubai Airways subsequently confirmed that the emergency signal was triggered by a fight among the pilots. The plane disappeared from public flight tracking services for a short time before landing safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia. It is now back on flight tracking services.
Israeli media reported that the plane, Flight DIB-AZ1073 of Dubai Airlines (Boeing 737 MAX 8, registration number A6-FKF), had suddenly changed direction. It was originally scheduled to fly from Dubai to Tel Aviv, and there were hundreds of Israeli citizens on board. The aircraft initially sent a 7700 code (international emergency code), and later a 7500 code (international hijacking code).
