According to a report by the American 'Politico News Network' on September 29th, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order requiring all government agencies to use the term 'Super Intelligence' (SI) instead of 'Artificial Intelligence' (AI).
The administrative order states that the name “Super Intelligence” better reflects the true capabilities of this technology. Using this name will ensure that various departments and agencies of the U.S. government continue to focus on expanding the capabilities and applications of this technology, thereby “enhancing the capabilities of American citizens, strengthening the economy of the United States, and improving the lives of American people.”
The administrative order requires all government departments and agencies in the United States to use “Super Intelligence” or its abbreviation “SI” in official letters, communications, and documents. The terms “Artificial Intelligence” and its abbreviation “AI” are no longer recognized.
Trump then said at the press conference: "This is not AI, this is SI. We have officially changed the name."
Additionally, 29 American technology giants, including NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI President Greg Brockman, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and xAI CEO Elon Musk, attended a White House lunch on the 29th and signed a document.
Trump claimed that the document related to AI technology had “moral binding force”. Reports stated that the document instructed tech companies to work with independent external audit agencies to assess whether their AI models are “functioning as expected” and to strengthen internal controls over these models. Trump also proposed establishing a committee to oversee the development of AI industries in the United States.
Trump told the media: "People who have power and influence signed this document, and I, as president, also signed it. This is indeed a measure of protection."
Last week, during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, Trump said that the U.S. government would refer to artificial intelligence as “super intelligence” in its official statements in the future. He claimed that the term “artificial intelligence” underestimated this technology.
