On September 30 local time, Russian President Putin delivered a speech at the State Duma (lower house of parliament). According to Russian TASS, Putin said in his speech that, unlike some countries, Russia will not go around 'begging' for support.
Putin said, "Unlike some countries—I won’t mention specific names here—Russia will not go around the world begging for charity in a subservient manner. First of all, as I mentioned earlier, such behavior is utterly shameful. Secondly, no one will give us anything, and we are very aware of this. Finally, and most importantly, we don’t need to do this at all."
Putin emphasized that no one can destroy or intimidate the Russian people, and Russia has the ability to continue ensuring national security and sovereignty for several generations to come.
