According to reports, on September 27, the five men were arrested in Welford, Gloucestershire, England. The area is about 2 miles (3.22 kilometers) from the Royal Air Force base in Fairford, England. During the war with Iran, the US Air Force carried out long-range heavy bombing missions from this base.
London Police’s Senior Coordinator for Counter-Terrorism Operations, Vicky Evans, said, “We are in the early stages of the investigation, and five men remain in custody.”
The British counter-terrorism police department, which led the investigation, stated in a statement that five men were arrested for suspected planning of terrorist attacks and violation of the Explosives Act.
Local Assistant Chief of Police Richard Ocone told reporters that just after midnight on the 26th local time, someone reported to the police that three suspicious vehicles were heading towards Kifa. The suspect was subsequently detained.
