According to the Iranian Tasnim News Agency, on September 27 local time, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Navy of Iran issued a statement announcing the capture of an advanced American unmanned underwater vehicle carrying out espionage missions in the Strait of Hormuz.
The statement claims that the Revolutionary Guard Navy, through coordinated actions including intelligence surveillance and electronic warfare, captured a US intelligent unmanned underwater vehicle named “Remus 600”. Iranian experts are working to recover the data from this device.
The statement emphasizes that the Hormuz Strait has been blocked by Iran, and Iran will “continuously and decisively” combat dangerous activities targeting the Hormuz Strait and unauthorized crossings.
Previously, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard of Iran announced on September 8 that they had captured a US military Dive-LD type unmanned underwater vehicle in the Hormuz Strait. The US Central Command subsequently responded that the underwater vehicle had experienced a “failure” more than a day prior, and it did not carry any sensitive data or classified equipment.
