Investigators from the Federal Investigative Committee of Russia stated that the accident occurred around 11:20 am local time on the 26th. An explosion occurred during welding operations at a backup pump station at the Elga coal mine in the Neruinogry District, southern Yakutia, resulting in multiple deaths.
As of now, the exact number of deaths is not known. A team composed of Russian forensic experts and investigators is conducting an investigation at the scene of the incident.
