According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the Emirates Civil Aviation Authority issued a statement on September 24 stating that it had suspended flights between the UAE and Iran airlines until further notice. The decision took effect on the same day.
The UAE Civil Aviation Authority stated that this decision was based on sanctions imposed by the United States against various Iranian airlines.
The agency stated that it will continue to keep relevant departments and the public informed of the progress until air traffic between the UAE and Iran returns to normal.
US Treasury Secretary Steven Benshennett said in an interview with CNN this week that starting from the 23rd, foreign airports will be sanctioned to prevent them from providing refueling, ticket sales, and other services to Iranian airlines. He stated that companies that ignore these sanctions “will be kicked out of the dollar system”.
According to Iranian media reports, after the US imposed sanctions, flights between Iran and Iraq, as well as between Iran and Oman, were canceled on the 23rd.
