According to CNN, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stated on September 24 local time that Iran never planned to assassinate U.S. President Donald Trump.
On that day, Pesezhiyan and Iran's Foreign Minister Alaghchi held a press conference in New York to respond to media inquiries. At the conference, Pesezhiyan denied the allegations that Iran was trying to assassinate the U.S. President, emphasizing that the Iranian government, both publicly and privately, “has never had the assassination of Trump and his family as a policy goal.”
In response to Peshevizian's statement, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said: "The Iranian regime has killed thousands of its own citizens, murdered Americans overseas, carried out terrorist acts in the Strait of Hormuz, and launched indiscriminate attacks on neighboring countries in the region."
"Trump President is determined to block such a 'evil nation' from obtaining nuclear weapons, which will make the world more secure and stable." Kelly said.
At the press conference, Peshevizian also introduced his recent meeting with Iran's supreme leader, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and stated that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is "in quite good health."
He mentioned that their last face-to-face meeting was about a month ago. The conversation lasted for about 7 hours. During the meeting, both of them sat on cushions on the ground, and they also stood up and moved around. “I did not see any major problems with Mujetab’s health or physical condition.”
The previous day, Peyzeri Zian gave a speech at the United Nations General Assembly, stating that Iran would "never yield or compromise," and called for joint efforts by countries to achieve peace.
Pezeshian stated that Iran does not wish to possess nuclear weapons and will not accept restrictions on its civilian nuclear program. He reiterated that Iran is willing to coexist in harmony with regional neighbors, and that regional issues should be resolved by the countries themselves within the region, without allowing external forces to intervene.
Peshevichiyan criticizes some countries for their 'double standards' regarding Iran's nuclear issues, as well as issues related to Israel and Palestine. He believes that continued occupation, aggression, and non-compliance will exacerbate regional conflicts. Peshevichiyan states that war and military force cannot replace international law, diplomacy, and political dialogue. He calls for achieving common security through regional cooperation.
