According to the WeChat official account of the Chinese Coast Guard, on September 25, Jiang Lue, spokesman for the Chinese Coast Guard, stated that on September 24, the Philippines breached their commitments and ignored the advice from China, deciding to send a tug boat to transport vessels that illegally anchored at Ren'ai Reef. The Chinese Coast Guard took legal measures against the Philippine tug boat, including on-site supervision and warning statements. The Philippines’ provocative actions and inflammatory rhetoric during Chinese holidays seriously violated the “Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea” and undermined peace and stability in the South China Sea region. We urge the Philippines to stop their provocative behavior immediately. The Chinese Coast Guard will carry out rights protection and law enforcement activities in the Nansha Islands, including Ren'ai Reef, and its surrounding waters, to firmly safeguard national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.
