According to a report by the Russian Satellite News Agency on September 23, U.S. Secretary of State Rubio stated that the United States has invited Russian President Putin to attend the G20 Summit in Miami, Florida in December this year.
Rubio said, "We have invited President Putin to attend the G20 summit. We believe that this is an opportunity for President Putin not only to communicate with the president of the United States, but also with other world leaders. We hope he will accept this invitation."
G20 Summit will be held in Miami from December 14th to 15th.
Regarding this, Russian President's press secretary Peskov responded: "We have seen the media reports and the statement of the US Secretary of State. The Russian side expresses gratitude for this invitation. We will confirm it through diplomatic channels and consider the relevant invitation."
On the 21st, Bloomberg cited sources close to the Kremlin, stating that Putin plans to attend the APEC summit in Shenzhen, China, in November this year. However, he may not travel to the United States to attend the G20 summit in December. Sources familiar with the matter said that Russian officials expect little progress in negotiations between Russia and the United States regarding ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine before the G20 summit is held.
