According to the Pakistani newspaper 'Dawn', at dawn on September 24 local time, Pakistan conducted air strikes on 10 locations in Afghanistan as retaliation for drone attacks from Afghanistan the previous day.
Pakistan's Minister of News and Broadcasting, Atallah Tarar, posted a statement on social media stating that Pakistan had targeted 10 locations in Afghanistan where drones were launched and stored. "These strikes were carefully considered, precise, prudent, and moderate, and were limited to targets directly related to the attempted attacks against Pakistan."
Talal emphasized that Pakistan will not tolerate attacks launched from Afghan territory. Any act of violating Pakistani sovereignty will be met with a swift and decisive response. Pakistan called on the Afghan Transitional Government to fulfill its international obligations and take effective, concrete, verifiable, and sustained actions against terrorist organizations operating within Afghanistan, in order to prevent Afghan territory from being used for launching attacks.
He added that Pakistan does not seek to escalate the situation and will continue to work towards regional peace, dialogue, and constructive engagement.
On September 23 local time, Pakistani security forces announced that they had downed eight drones launched from Afghanistan. According to sources in the Pakistani security forces, Pakistan believes that the Afghan Taliban attempted to use these drones to attack public places in Pakistan.
The Afghan Interim Government has not commented on Pakistan's recent air strikes. However, Zabihullah Mukhtar, a spokesman for the Afghan Taliban, denied Pakistan's allegations on the 23rd, stating that Afghan Taliban forces did not carry out any attacks against Pakistan.
