In American streets, another group of voices has emerged that displeases some politicians.
During the United Nations General Assembly and the New York Climate Week, the American women's anti-war organization CODEPINK plans to hold a one-week protest outside the United Nations headquarters. They will criticize the United States' growing military budget over the years, as well as the government's "complete destruction of climate and the environment."
They targeted their own government's war machine with their spears, demanding that more resources be allocated to improving people’s livelihood rather than manufacturing “enemies.”
However, Fox News in the United States and some politicians turned a blind eye to these demands. They focused solely on one of the many slogans that they held high – “China is not our enemy” – and then skillfully began to fabricate conspiracy theories.
In April 2024, protesters shouted "Chinese people are not our enemies."
And, a scene of utter absurdity appeared.
According to American media, anti-war movements are portrayed as 'anti-American', and protesters are also depicted as 'Trojan horses' controlled by foreign forces.
In fact, over the past 25 years, this American anti-war organization, marked by bright pink, has been doing one thing consistently: opposing war and military expansion, and questioning the U.S. government's policy of constantly creating 'enemies'.
I initiated the initiative calling out ‘China is not an enemy of the United States’ because I have seen too many of these same lies in the past.
As early as 2023, the organization’s founder Judy Evans pointed out that she believes the world is more aware than the United States. Over the past few decades, Americans have been deceived by the 'well-oiled lies' fabricated by the media, and many do not know how to distinguish between right and wrong.
The annual United Nations General Assembly has once again brought excitement to the streets of New York.
Evans wore that iconic purple-red straw hat, standing opposite the United Nations headquarters. Along with a group of anti-war activists, he protested against the U.S. military's "climate destruction," and then marched all the way to OpenAI’s office, cursing the data center for "fostering wars."
September 19th, protesters voiced their support for Palestine.
In a report on the 22nd, Fox News gathered recent protests in New York and Austin together and discussed them, accusing them of “stirring up anti-American protests for a week.”
The article also claims without reason that these activities are “superficially” related to issues such as climate change, immigration, artificial intelligence, militarism, and Israel. In reality, they are aimed at creating a constant scene of street unrest, with the intention of creating obstacles for the United States at important moments.
Immediately afterwards, American anti-China politicians seized the opportunity to use their own judgment and slandered the "pink code" for accepting payments to cause trouble.
"U.S. citizens need to know that this is not just a spontaneous movement," said U.S. Representative Jason Smith of the Republican Party from Missouri, "it's an organized effort."
The chairman of the Federal House of Representatives’ “China Issues Special Committee,” John Muellerner (Republican), who has repeatedly manipulated the anti-China agenda, claimed that the “pink codes” appear to be false propaganda and highly manipulative. He argued that these protests have “created serious concerns about foreign attempts to influence the United States.” He spread conspiracy theories, falsely claiming that these actions were aimed at “anti-American purposes.”
Fox News released a "survey," targeting Evan's husband, the wealthy Neville Cineham. It claimed that he had invested $285 million through funds and companies in social organizations such as "Pink Code."
But Fox News also had to admit that Singer has not been charged with any crimes, and it is impossible to prove that 'he personally directed every protest.'
"Pink Code" was established in 2002, registered in the United States. It is a women's anti-war organization with mostly volunteer members. It has branches in countries like the UK and Canada. The official website lists issues such as reducing the Pentagon budget, preventing war with Iran and lifting sanctions, closing U.S. overseas bases, "war is not environmentally friendly," and "China is not our enemy."
This time in New York, the organization is protesting not only about China's issues.
They first addressed the US military and its alleged 'damage to climate and environment', and also participated in protests against artificial intelligence data centers. In the view of 'Pink Code', there is a connection between the increasing military budget in the US, the militarization of artificial intelligence, and climate issues.
On the 21st local time, leaders of organizations such as Evans and Medea Benjamin gave exclusive interviews to American media, responding to the unfounded attacks by American politicians.
They pointed out that Washington is currently considering a defense budget of $1.5 trillion, and this staggering figure is being justified under the pretext that ‘China is our enemy’. ‘When we launch the campaign against the idea that China is not our enemy, we are actually preventing another war.’
Regarding the so-called 'foreign agents' label, Evans and others said that they are already accustomed to it.
"We call the victims of the child killings in Gaza and the collective punishment policy in Gubei "Foreign Agents" or "Sympathizers with Terrorists." They spoke about these topics, saying that for the past 20 years, American politicians have been using the same rhetoric, without any new ideas."
Regarding the accusation of ‘accepting payment’, Benjamin has repeatedly denied it publicly, stating that this was ‘a complete lie’.
“I just saw a survey that, in people under 30, only 16% thought invading Iran was a good idea,” Evans said. “So we know the public stands with us and one of our jobs now is to convince those in power to listen to our voices, instead of foreign or war machine voices.”
"First take off the hat, then find evidence," some American media and politicians are comfortable with this process. "Pink code" is not the first time it has been accused of being anti-American.
As early as 2023, there were protests near the U.S. Capitol where people stated that "China is not our enemy".
In May 2023, three US ministers collaborated to discuss competition with China, but there were anti-war protests in attendance.
In May of that year, then-U.S. Secretary of State Blinken, Secretary of Defense Austin, and Secretary of Commerce Raymond attended a hearing in Congress. It was a rare occasion for the three ministers to be together discussing competition with China, and they discussed what they called "competition" against China.
Members of the organization held banners in their hands and wore T-shirts with slogans. They interrupted those speeches that advocated for tough measures against China and military action against Iran, shouting “China is not an enemy” and “Give money to the poor, not to war”.
In January 2024, former U.S. House Speaker Pelosi, faced with anti-war protests, became furious and called protesters “to go back to China”, which caused controversy.
"Pink Code" issued a statement denying accusations: "Those protesting Pelosi have not received a single dime from any foreign or external forces. They are just voters, hoping to see their taxes used for the extermination of Palestinians." Pelosi annually receives funding from "The American Israel Public Affairs Committee" (AIPAC). So who are the foreign agents?"
In November 2023, Evans visited the Observer Network and also discussed the phenomenon of the U.S. society continuously reinforcing the idea of a 'China threat'.
In the conversation, she said that both parties in the United States serve the wealthy and large corporations. Lobby groups such as the military-industrial complex and AIPAC control Congress, and nearly 60% of a typical American citizen’s tax money is taken up for wars. At the same time, politicians and the media constantly emphasize the threat posed by a particular country, using this fear to promote wars.
At that time, in her view, U.S. policy towards China was showing a similar trend.
This is also why, for several years passed, "pink code" is still shouting that "China is not our enemy."
