According to Yonhap, on September 23 local time, data released by the National Data Agency of South Korea shows that the number of people born in July this year was 24,275, an increase of 11.1% compared to previous years, marking the highest figure for the same month since 2019.
According to statistics, the cumulative number of births in the first seven months of this year exceeded 170,000, reaching 170,079 people. This represents a 14.7% increase from previous years, marking the highest growth rate in recent years. The total fertility rate in July was 0.89 people per woman, an increase of 0.08 people compared to previous years.
In July, the number of marriages registered in South Korea increased by 9.3% year-on-year, reaching 22,820 marriages. This marks the highest number for a single month since 2015. Over the first seven months of this year, the total number of marriages registered reached 146,660 marriages, which is the highest level seen for the same period since 2018.
In addition, the number of deaths in South Korea in July increased by 3%, reaching 29,821 people. As a result, the total population of South Korea decreased by 4,647 people, showing a continuous decline for 81 months.
