According to Israel's Jewish News Agency (JNS), Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated in an interview published on social media on September 22 that he has set a five-year goal for Israel: to become the world's third-largest AI power, after the United States and China.
"I set a goal: within five years, we will become the world's third largest AI power." Netanyahu stated in his conversation with Israeli high-tech entrepreneurs and investors Oren Dobronsky.
"There's the United States, there's China, they are not small countries, but I hope Israel will become the third AI superpower, with God's help, we will surely achieve it." Netanyahu said.
He added that Israel “cannot afford the consequences of falling behind,” and stated that this issue is also related to Israel’s national security.
Netanyahu also mentioned that the Israeli government has allocated funds for extracurricular AI courses for students in grades seven and eight. He stated that this program is part of Israel’s broader effort to give more families the opportunity to send their children to community centers to study AI courses.
