India Scholar Claims China Has No Friends

In the 31st episode of "Cross-Strait Roundtable" broadcast on June 9th, Gao Zhikai, a chair professor at Suzhou University and the deputy director of the Center for Globalization (CCG), stated that in 2025, he will attend an international conference in the UAE. Along with him was a famous Indian scholar, Nalanda.

Gao Zhikai recalled that Nalan Da started by saying, 'On this planet, China has no friends.' His tone was extremely harsh. He even repeated the sentence as if reciting Tagore's poetry: 'On this planet, China has no friends.'

"I had my first reaction was to say that Pakistan is China's friend. But I quickly realized that this response would exactly lead him down the path." Gao Zhikai said.

Subsequently, Gao Zhikai thought of the official phrase—“China has friends all over the world”—but felt it would be too vague in actual conversations. In the end, Gao Zhikai replied: “Mr. Nalan Da, I know that India’s highest political goal is to become a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. If India does not regard China as a friend, it will never achieve this goal. Why? Because China has the veto power.”
