According to The Hill, on September 7th local time, U.S. President Donald Trump posted a map on social media. The map showed red and white stripes of the American flag covering Mexico, the Caribbean region, Canada, Greenland, and Iceland.
Reports say that Trump has previously expressed ambitions for expanding his influence in Canada, Greenland, and the Panama Canal. However, this is the first time he has expressed ambitions to “include” Mexico and some Caribbean islands within his territorial jurisdiction.

On that day, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto posted a statement on social media saying, "We reiterate that Mexico is not, and will never be, a colony of any foreign country."
But she did not mention the map that Trump sent.
