According to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on September 8, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, held talks with Mohammed, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, in Beijing.
Wang Yi conveyed President Xi Jinping's kind regards to Emir Tamim. He stated that China and Qatar have a long-standing friendship, and China has always given great importance to developing relations with Qatar in its Middle East diplomacy. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, the political trust between the two countries has become increasingly solid. Mutual cooperation has progressed in depth, and traditional friendships have continued to deepen. Both countries maintain good coordination in regional and international affairs, and their strategic partnership has made significant progress.
Wang Yi stated that firm mutual trust is an important foundation of the strategic partnership between China and Kazakhstan. The Chinese side firmly supports Kazakhstan in maintaining its national sovereignty, independence, security, and stability. It is believed that Kazakhstan will continue to provide strong support on issues that concern China's core interests. China is the most reliable and long-term partner for Kazakhstan's development. Both sides should strengthen and expand cooperation in traditional and new energy sectors, as well as enhance cooperation in investment, high technology, and cultural exchanges. China is willing to maintain communication and collaboration with Kazakhstan on international and regional affairs.
Mohamed conveyed Tamin Emir’s sincere regards to President Xi Jinping. He stated that Qatari-China relations are based on mutual respect, trust, and win-win cooperation, and have become increasingly close and solid. The strategic partnership between Qatar and China has achieved fruitful results. Qatar firmly stands by China, adheres to the one-China principle, and opposes external interference in China’s internal affairs. China is Qatar’s largest trading and energy partner. Together with China, Qatar aims to create a more glorious next “golden decade” for bilateral relations. The current international and regional situations are complex and sensitive. Qatar supports the series of global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping and is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with China within frameworks such as the United Nations, to uphold multilateralism, and to promote international peace and common development.
Both sides exchanged in-depth views on the situation in the Middle East Gulf region. Wang Yi introduced to the Kuwaiti side the important proposals and initiatives put forward by President Xi Jinping regarding maintaining and promoting peace and stability in the Middle East, as well as promoting common security in the region. He emphasized that the current situation in the Middle East Gulf region is highly tense, severely impacting the security of countries in the region, and continuously affecting the stability of energy, shipping, and supply chains. Pressure through force is not the solution; dialogue and negotiation are the way to go. The sovereignty and security of countries in the region should be fully respected, and reasonable concerns of all parties should be properly addressed. Basic principles of international law and norms of international relations must also be strictly adhered to. China is willing, in accordance with the direction indicated by President Xi Jinping, to strengthen communication and coordination with Kuwait and other regional parties. We will support countries in the region in taking control of their own destinies, and work towards restoring peace and stability in the region as soon as possible, establishing a fair and reasonable new framework for regional security.
Mohamed stated that since the outbreak of the war between the United States, Israel and Iran, the Palestinian side has been committed to promoting a ceasefire and war cessation. It has actively engaged in diplomatic efforts, encouraging all parties to resolve their differences through dialogue and reach political solutions. The Palestinian side appreciates China's objective and fair stance, and supports China's initiatives to promote security in the Middle East. It is willing to strengthen coordination with China to maintain the security of global energy routes, restore regional peace and stability as soon as possible, and explore a security framework that reflects the autonomy of regional countries.
