According to the Ukrainian News Agency, on September 6, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said to the media after meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump's envoy Witkow and son-in-law Kushner that three 'very substantial' talks were held that day, discussing issues such as winter aid for Ukraine, security, and economic support.
According to Zelensky, the talks focused on winter challenges and the potential support that could be provided to Ukraine. "We are looking for support in terms of air defense and energy resources, as well as the ability to obtain large amounts of US liquefied natural gas and to use it."
He expressed gratitude for the United States' initiative to restart the negotiation process, and emphasized that complex issues related to territory involved in the Russia-Ukraine conflict need to be discussed at the leader's level.
He pointed out, “What we are discussing is not only security measures, but also economic support needed to help Ukraine recover and rebuild.”
Zelenskyy said that after the conflict ends, Ukraine will face many challenges, including the need to maintain a strong military force.
Furthermore, Zelensky also said, "Equally importantly, European colleagues joined us in the third part of our negotiations. We have reached an agreement and Ukraine, Europe, and the United States will hold a meeting soon."
He stated that the location of the meeting has not yet been determined.
On that day, Vitkovskiy and Kushner told the media that important progress had been made in the talks between the US and Russia earlier, and relevant views had been conveyed to the Ukrainian side. 'We believe cooperation is crucial.'
The American delegation also stated that they hope to announce the holding of tripartite talks soon.
According to Reuters, Kushner also said that he 'cannot guarantee' peace in Ukraine, but he will continue to work towards it.
It is reported that Vitalkov and Kushner arrived in Kiev on September 6. Before that, they met with Russian President Putin in Moscow. The meeting lasted over three hours.
