According to a report by the British 'Financial Times' on September 7, the oil facilities of Saudi Aramco, located in Jizan, Saudi Arabia, were attacked once again.
Two people familiar with the matter said that the attack occurred on the 7th, and authorities are currently assessing the damage.
Jizan is the industrial city in Saudi Arabia that is closest to the Yemen border. It has been attacked by the Yemeni Houthi forces on several occasions in the past.
According to Reuters, the Houthi movement in Yemen claimed on August 9 that it had carried out a ‘precision strike’ using drones against a Saudi Aramco refinery located in Jizan. The refinery has a daily capacity of 400,000 barrels. It had already been damaged due to previous attacks by Houthi militants, resulting in damage to the gasification plant and storage tanks. As a result, the refinery was closed on July 27.
Saudi Aramco CEO Amin Nasseredin said last month that recent attacks on the company's facilities caused some production interruptions, but he believed operations could resume quickly. He also emphasized that these attacks did not have a significant impact on operations or finances.
On the 7th, sources familiar with the matter revealed to the Financial Times that the scale of the latest attack is roughly similar to that of the attack last month.
Saudi Aramco did not immediately respond to the request for comment.
