On September 6th, Japanese Ambassador to India, Minoru Ono, wrote that during his visit to Rishikesh in India, he experienced three consecutive ‘baths’ in the Ganges River.
Ono Keiichi said, “I felt a deep spiritual connection. At the same time, my heart was filled with awe, humility, and gratitude. It was truly an unforgettable moment!”
The video shows that Ono Keiichi tightly grasped a chain by the river. He bent over three times, allowing the water to cover his head, and bowed his head in greeting before entering the water.
According to India TV, many Indian netizens appreciate the participation of the Japanese ambassador in local traditions.
Some netizens claim that there is cultural similarity between India and Japan. For example, both countries emphasize a connection with nature, including the sun, moon, rivers, and wind.
Some Indian netizens also said that the ambassador wasn’t just standing on the steps by the river, pretending to scoop water—he was actually immersed in the river, “showing his respect, not for the sake of performing in front of the camera.”
