On September 6th, the Secretary for Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Mr. Andrew Wong, posted on Weibo saying, "I arrived in Yan'an early yesterday to attend the opening ceremony and exchange meetings of the National Conditions Training Class for the Security Bureau in Yan'an. I have visited Yan'an several times before. This place is a place where one can study history and reflect on one's original aspirations."
Deng Bingqiang stated that this opportunity to grasp the national context is rare, with outdoor teaching sessions in addition to classroom instruction. This allows participants to learn while walking and experience firsthand. "I hope colleagues take away not just historical knowledge, but also the belief behind 'serving the people' exemplified by the spirit of Yan’an."
Deng Bingqiang said that public servants are not only managers, but also providers of services to the people. When facing difficulties, they must have the courage to overcome obstacles and confront challenges. In doing their work, they should be practical and not engage in superficial efforts. In the face of new situations, they should dare to think and experiment, and be willing to innovate. ‘Over the next week, I hope that all of you, colleagues from different positions, will take the time to understand and reflect on the Yan'an spirit, recall your original intention as public servants, and then bring what you have learned back to Hong Kong and back to your own positions,’ he said.
