According to Reuters, on September 4th, local time, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that U.S. Special Envoy Robert Welch and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner will travel abroad in an attempt to facilitate a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine.
According to reports, during his speech at the Oval Office that day, Trump said that the United States has a new and specific proposal aimed at ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. However, he did not provide details about the proposal, nor did he clarify whether both countries would go to Ukraine or Russia, or if both countries would be involved.
"We have a peaceful vision," Trump said, "I've sent out Witkowski and Kushner, two excellent negotiators. They performed excellently, I sent them over to see if they could accomplish some things. We are very likely to succeed."
Two sources previously told Reuters that Witkow and Kusner originally planned to travel to Moscow this weekend, followed by a visit to Kiev. However, one of the sources said on September 4th that the itinerary had been changing constantly, and the trip to Kiev was not yet finalized.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posted on social media on September 4th local time, stating that Vitkoff and Kushner would first visit Moscow, and then travel to Kyiv on the 6th. Ukraine is preparing for this visit.
He revealed that, just as during previous diplomatic visits by the United States, the Ukrainian side will ensure the normal operation of Russian airspace during the relevant period, so that U.S. negotiators can arrive safely. “What we care about are them (the U.S. negotiators), not Russia.”
Zelenskyy said that Ukraine will not launch air strikes, and Russia must also take similar measures to ensure that air strikes cease during the time required for negotiations and resolving the logistics issues related to this visit.
"Our goal is to make this visit and our talks with the US as constructive and substantive as possible. We need to seek real options for pushing forward towards ending the war." Zelensky said.
He also said that he will pay attention to what proposals Witkow and Kusner will bring, as well as what responses they received in Moscow.
According to TASS reports, on September 4, when asked about the timing of Witkov and Kushner's arrival in Moscow, Russian President's press secretary Peskov said that no information would be announced in advance, but the details of the contact would be made known at the time of the event.
He also said that although Russian President Putin has mentioned the possibility of resolving the Ukraine issue through peaceful means, there are currently no specific prerequisites for the peace process.
