On September 2nd, local time, Trump posted on the “Truth Social” platform: “Since we have placed it under American control, should we rename the Hormuz Strait ‘Trump Strait’? Just like the United States itself, it will be more ‘hotly contested’ than ever before!”

Previously, on August 18th, Trump posted a picture on social media, claiming that the Hormuz Strait was "new territory for the United States." On August 21st, during a speech in South Carolina, Trump once again stated that he considered the Hormuz Strait to be now "territory of the United States."
Regarding Trump's statements of this kind, the Iranian Fars News Agency refuted that "Trump continues to claim in his delusion that the Strait of Hormozgan is American territory" .
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Gharimbaadi also issued a statement denying the claims made by Trump regarding the Strait of Hormuz, stating that either Trump should correct his statements himself or we will correct them.
