Ding Xuexiang Meets Putin in Vladivostok; Focuses on Strengthening Cooperation

On the evening of September 2nd local time, Ding Xuexiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, met with Russian President Putin in Vladivostok.

Ding Xuexiang first conveyed the cordial regards of President Xi Jinping to President Putin. Ding Xuexiang stated that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Putin, China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation in the new era has continued to deepen and take concrete form. The reason why China-Russia relations can remain unshakable in this turbulent international situation is that the leaders of both countries are at the helm. On August 31, President Xi Jinping met with President Putin again during the Bishkek summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, reaching new important agreements on the development of bilateral relations and the promotion of practical cooperation between the two countries. China is willing to work with Russia to implement the important agreements reached by the two leaders, take solid measures to deepen the integration of interests between the two sides, strengthen cooperation in key areas such as investment and energy, and continuously lay a solid foundation for the further development of China-Russia relations towards higher quality.

Ding Xuexiang pointed out that the Eastern Economic Forum is an important platform for countries in the Asia-Pacific region to build consensus on cooperation. This year’s theme of the forum is “Far East – Development for the People”. Both the Chinese and Russian governments regard bringing benefits to the people as their greatest achievements, and always regard safeguarding the fundamental interests of both countries and their peoples, as well as promoting the well-being of all humanity, as a noble pursuit. The Russian Far East region is full of vitality and opportunities, and there is great potential for enhanced cooperation between China and Russia in the development of the Far East. Both sides should continue to make good use of the “Northeast-Far East” cooperation mechanism and relevant policy support, strengthen the integration of China’s Northeast revitalization strategies with Russia’s Far East development strategies, continuously expand win-win development spaces, and further enhance the scale and level of cooperation, so that the benefits of mutual benefit and cooperation can benefit the people of both countries in a more substantial way.

Putin asked Ding Xuexiang to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping, and welcomed Ding Xuexiang to Russia to attend the 11th Eastern Economic Forum. Putin stated that a few days ago, I met with President Xi Jinping during the SCO summit, and we had in-depth discussions on important areas of cooperation. This once again demonstrates the leading role of diplomatic efforts by heads of state in shaping bilateral relations. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Russia-China Treaty of Good Neighbors and Friendly Cooperation. Through joint efforts by both countries, Russia-China relations have reached an unprecedented level, and positive progress has been made in various areas of cooperation. The Russian side is willing to strengthen strategic coordination and cooperation with China, aiming to elevate bilateral relations to a higher level.
